Natalia’s First Christmas in Canada
As we look ahead to another incredible season of giving, we’re reminded of families like Natalia’s, who we supported last year through Holiday Helpers Canada, a holiday charity helping families in need.
A Letter from Natalia and Her Family
“This is our first Christmas in Canada. This year has been difficult for us, especially when my husband lost his job in December. Your gifts became a real miracle for us and filled our home with the joy and warmth we were so looking forward to. You gave us not only things, but hope that everything will get better. Thank you for making the world a kinder place.”
— Natalia and her family
Natalia, her husband, and their young son arrived in Canada last spring after escaping the war in Ukraine. Back home, they each had stable jobs, but rebuilding life in a new country has brought many challenges. Both parents are learning English, with Natalia taking part in a skills-training program while also volunteering with a local community tax initiative. Her husband has found work in construction as they continue to build a new beginning for their family.
For them, the support of our community meant far more than presents under the tree. It was a warm welcome to their new home and a reminder that kindness knows no borders. The gifts they received through Holiday Helpers brought joy, laughter, and a sense of normalcy to a difficult year, creating cherished memories of their first Christmas in Canada.
Every year, Holiday Helpers Canada meets families just like Natalia’s: newcomers building new lives, single parents working tirelessly to make ends meet, and families trying to hold onto hope during hard times. Your generosity helps turn that hope into holiday magic and ensures every family can experience a joyful Christmas filled with warmth and love.
By sponsoring a family this holiday season, you can help make the season brighter for newcomers and local families in need across Canada.
