A Season of Giving: Reyna’s Story
As we look ahead to another season of giving, we’re reminded of families like Reyna’s, who we supported last year.
A Letter from Reyna
“This Christmas has been different for us, one to always remember. You really made us have a nice Christmas. My children were so happy; they enjoyed every toy and every detail. I loved our Christmas tree; it was beautiful. I want to wish you the best in this world for the happiness you bring to families like ours. It’s incredible to know there are people who, without knowing us, give us support and joy.”
— Reyna and her family
Reyna and her family arrived in Canada from Mexico earlier last year as refugee claimants. After months of uncertainty, they were finally settling into their new home and beginning to rebuild their lives. Reyna has started taking English classes and hopes to continue her studies to become a medical assistant. Her husband has been actively searching for work, all while they care for their two young children and adjust to life in a new country.
For Reyna’s family, the holidays were more than a celebration; they were a reminder that they weren’t alone. The gifts they received from Holiday Helpers Canada brought laughter, comfort, and a sense of belonging during a time of great transition. What stood out most was not the presents themselves, but the kindness of strangers who wanted to make their first Canadian Christmas a little brighter.
Every year, Holiday Helpers meets families just like Reyna’s: newcomers finding their footing, parents working tirelessly to create stability, and children dreaming of a joyful Christmas morning. Your generosity turns those dreams into cherished memories and gives families hope for the year ahead.
By choosing to sponsor a family this Christmas, you can make this holiday season just as special for another family in need, bringing joy, hope, and holiday magic to their home.
